how do I find peace?
Many people ask the question "How do I find peace?" Many people think they do have peace until illness strikes, job redundancies come, financial pressures take their toll or a close friend or family member dies. Many people pretend to have peace when they do not. Many people spend years trying to find peace and it eludes them. Don’t we all long for peace?
The good news is that we CAN have peace and we can have it permanently. We can rest in the enjoyment and certainty of it.
So the question is how?
The Lord Jesus said "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14 v 27) Read it again. Let those words sink into your very being. Does the world give us any peace? Can it give us any lasting peace? Can anyone else say to us so calmly "do not be afraid." Aren’t we all afraid?
But read on further…
"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4 v 7)
Why does He offer us such peace? Because He has compassion on us, because of His great love for us, and because He is rich in mercy.
People say there are many ways to heaven. Other people say there is no heaven at all. But the Bible clearly teaches a heaven and a hell and no place in between. The Bible teaches that the only way to the Father is through the Son. Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life." (John 14 v 6) Think about it. Why would God send His Son to die if there was some other way? His invitation is for everyone. But sadly everyone does not take it.
The choice is yours. As you face eternity you need to be sure where you are headed. You need to have peace in your heart. You need Jesus as your Saviour. Ask for His forgiveness and accept Him today. Peace will flood your heart as you realise you have found the Source of Peace.
Jesus said…., "Your faith has saved you; go in peace." (Luke 7 v 50)
"I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety." (Psalm 4 v 8)
